Ses Salines

Ses Salines is situated in the south of Majorca. It owes its name to the numerous salt pans that are used today for salt extraction. Ses Salines - a village where one waits for the sea water evaporates, salt, here it seems as if no time, it's too quiet. A main street, where everything is together, a few small side streets, which is Ses Salines. Around the village is dominated forests, evergreen plants, and rosemary and Spanish cane Zitrönenbäume. Colonia Sant Jordi is popular in popular seaside village and the natural beach Es Trenc, which is found only a few kilometers.

History


The salt flats of Sa Vall and Colonia de Sant Jordi is the oldest island. Phoenician traders began with the salt. The salt was still interesting for Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Christians.
